The news is dreary, dreadful, depressing and doesn’t bode well for our future. That’s why we at Kids AMERICAN believe that rather that dwelling on the doom, we should embolden our youth! They are the true future and there is never too early a time to start!
Start when they’re young and talk to your kids about POSITIVE things. Highlight wonderful feats from the past and share uplifting new stories of today. We all know that almost everything that makes the news is bound to increase anxiety. So, avoid the mainstream media and go on the hunt for interesting, captivating, GOOD news stories.
Some adults believe that stressing about the state of America will somehow encourage kids to want to grow up and change it. But that is a daunting task and sounds altogether too overwhelming for most grown-ups, so imagine how the children feel!
Why don’t we instead focus on the good and tell amazing stories about Americans helping one another, discovering incredible parts of history and/or saving lives to inspire our youth to want to maintain the greatness that is America!
I’ve always trusted in the self-fulfilling prophecy and if you tell kids that America is great (no lying necessary!), they’ll grow up believing it and wanting to help keep it that way!
